Asian stock markets began the last session of the week with a decline, weighed down by the contraction of US stock indices, after the inflation data in September beyond expectations, with investors’ attention now shifting to consumer prices in China.
At the opening, the Nikkei reference index lost 0.51% to 32,328.39, a loss of 166 points. On the currency market, the yen is stable against the dollar, falling to 149.70, and strengthens against the euro at 157.80.
The Shanghai Composite index, however, initially lost 0.66%, to 3,087.53 points, while that of Shenzhen lost 0.62%, to 1,908.59.
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange also returned to trading with a sharp correction: the Hang Seng index, on fears of new rate increases by the Federal Reserve, lost 1.60%, slipping to 17,946.77 points.
