Open transactions made with Equal Crossing will still be handled, reports Marktplaats† The feature is no longer available for new payments.
Equal Crossing was supposed to give Marktplaats users more confidence in both buying and sending stuff. Marktplaats acted as an intermediary and held the purchase amount until the buyer had received the product. This way the buyer knew that the payment was safe, and the seller knew that the money would not be missed.

Alternative is going to check more
If a product did not arrive, the buyer could easily get the money back. Receipt was checked via the Track & Trace data of the parcel service: on delivery, Marktplaats transferred the money to the seller. Equal Crossing cost 40 cents plus 4.5 percent of the purchase price.
The alternative that is now being developed and should offer more than Crossing Away. “With this new service, you are not only protected if your package has not been sent by the seller, but also if the product arrives damaged or the contents of the package are different than agreed with the seller,” says Marktplaats.
It is not yet known how Marktplaats will check those details. It is also not yet clear when the alternative will become available.
