For those who have been a big KLM fan for years and never fly around the world with another airline, this year’s Christmas jumper is a real collector’s item. And the staff saw this too, because the piece of clothing they could buy for a small amount as a Christmas present is now often offered on Marktplaats. For about 60 euros.
66 times for sale
You can see the KLM logo on the sweater, along with a KLM plane manned by Santa Claus. And it’s written: ‘All I want for Christmas is blue’. Not all KLM staff members agreed, at least 66 people do not need the garment anyway.
Let’s move on to that other blue company: Coolblue. The employees received a large bag filled with a lot of goods. Two of these packages are now on sale for 80 and 75 euros.
Lego delivery truck
For that money you get, among other things, a bag, a Frisbee, a loudspeaker, a hammam towel and a Lego brick delivery truck. That structure is also on sale separately 19 times, from 10 to 50 euros.
Another Christmas present that employees would rather lose than get rich: a book about mussels. DPG Media has given the gift, along with the goat wool socks, thousands of times in their Christmas package.
Sergio Herman’s book, titled Hommage, was simply not popular. As of this week the book – still new in the plastic – has suddenly gone on sale 47 times on the second hand site, can’t be a coincidence can it?
Sure, the employees of the Pathé cinema chain didn’t get a book, but on Marktplaats you can see what they got: a Pathé special edition of Monopoly. Dorpsstraat, Barteljorisstraat and Kalverstraat have been replaced by the cities and street names where the company’s cinemas are located.
“Unique for a Monopoly collector,” writes an employee who prefers to sell the game – as it turns out one of the few. The highest bidder wins, there is currently a bid of 45 euros.
The Christmas parcels were also distributed to the Ministry of Defence. In addition to a box full of sweets, an apron was also given away. The cool thing is that it’s made from recycled army tent tarps. The Defense logo is also depicted on the apron.
However, not everyone had to have it. Where one hopes to sell the apron for 40 euros, the other gives it away for a box of Pringles.
The drivers and conductors of the Dutch railways received a Christmas present again this year. And it’s not so obvious, because in 2020 the same employees – apart from a box of Merci – didn’t receive a gift. They received two first-class train tickets to give to family or friends. The company would save tons with it.
NS package this year after all
There was a lot of hype last year. So this year, employees simply got something on the carpet again: an NS-style puzzle, scarf and hat. The dozens of advertisements on Marktplaats show that not everyone was in the mood to put the pieces of cardboard together. The puzzle can be collected for free in some, while in another you pay 11 euros.
The scarf and the hat are also on sale and popular: a Breda employee has already received an offer of 43 euros for the complete NS package.
And then there are the companies that don’t personalize their Christmas gift, but buy from large Christmas gift chains. At the company Total Gift Christmas Packages, the “bicycle backpack Christmas package” has proved popular. But not among the employees who received it.
Bicycle bag of 45 euros
They offer the Norländer brand bicycle bag – with a sales value of around 45 euros – in bulk. The one with a logical reason: “While I realize it’s an expensive gift, I also know that due to two chronic illnesses I will never cycle long distances (for which this bag is particularly intended),” writes one salesman. He hopes to sell the bag for 40 euros.
Another writes: “I won’t use it, I’m riding a motorbike”. Then sell it, just like dozens of others must have thought.
Lastbut definitely not less: the traditional Christmas present. Cardboard boxes, filled with the famous bottle of wine, tapas and nuts, are also offered on Marktplaats, although there aren’t many of them. The good thing about this is that it is given away for free. “For families with children who have little and really need it,” writes a benefactor from Nijmegen who offers a huge package.
Ultimate Christmas spirit
Another is to give away noodles, profiteroles and potato chips, by the way, ‘for someone I can make happy with this’. There are also various packages online on the Facebook Marketplace. For example, someone from Alphen aan den Rijn shares the latest Christmas idea: “For those who don’t have it, I would like to give away part of my Christmas package!”
