Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United States (US) inflation rate turned higher in early 2023. The increase in housing and fuel costs has an impact on consumers.

As reported by the US Department of Labor, the consumer price index rose 0.5% in January 2023 on a monthly basis (month to month/mtm). Annually (yoy), inflation was at 6.4%.

This figure is above the expectations of a number of analysts. Previous survey of economists Dow Jones, citing CNBC Internationalforecast gains of 0.4% and 6.2%, respectively.

Meanwhile, core inflation – which excludes food and energy – increased 0.4% on a monthly basis and 5.6% on an annual basis. Analysts had previously forecast 0.3% and 5.5%, respectively.
