Mark Zuckerberg Comments on Apple’s Vision Pro Glasses: Meta’s Opinion

You already know what we think of Vision Pro glasses. But what is the opinion of a much more professional person? A person who did not hesitate to spend two billion dollars on Oculus and has already spent tens of billions on VR glasses? Mark Zuckerberg met with people from Meta and commented on Apple’s new product. Alex Heath of the magazine The Verge he was there and interprets his words.

Apple has finally announced its headset, so I want to talk about it for a moment. I was really curious to see what they would come up with. And of course I haven’t seen it yet, so I’ll know more when we play around with it and see what happens and how people use it.

From what I’ve seen initially, I’d say the good news is that they don’t have a magic solution to any limitation of the laws of physics that our teams haven’t already researched and devised. They chose a higher resolution display and because of all the technology they put in there to make it work, it costs seven times more. And it requires so much power that you need a battery and an attached wire to use it. They made this design compromise and maybe it makes sense for the cases they are going for.

But I think their announcement really shows the difference in values and vision that our companies bring to this space in a way that I think is really important. We innovate to make sure our products are as accessible as possible to everyone, and that’s a core part of what we do. And we’ve sold tens of millions of Quests.

More importantly, our vision of the metaverse and presence is fundamentally social. It’s about people communicating with each other in new ways and feeling closer to each other. Our device is also about being active and doing something in VR. In contrast, every demo they did was a person sitting alone on a couch. That might be a vision of the future of computing, but I don’t want it. There is a real philosophical difference in how we approach this. And seeing what they were coming up with and how they were going to break through made me even more pumped. In many ways, I am optimistic that what we are doing matters and will be successful. But it will be a fun ride.

In short, Zuckerberg says that in the end, Apple didn’t introduce anything that they couldn’t also produce in Meta. And they want seven times more for it than the new Quest 3 costs. It doesn’t have such high-end hardware, but almost everyone can afford it. However, in the fact that Apple only showed people sitting alone on the couch with Vision Pro on and cut off from reality, it is a huge lie. There are two women in one shot!
