appeared yesterday Infinite trailerdirector’s new film nieuwe Antoine Fuqua (known from Training Day) in which the main role is played by Mark Wahlberg. However, Paramount, the studio behind the film, is now making a controversial decision.

The studio recently announced that the action/sci-fi film will be shown exclusively on Paramount+ in the countries where the streaming service is available. This is not the case in the Netherlands. The film will hit theaters here from September 9.

Heard nothing
However, Mark Wahlberg, Antoine Fuqua and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura were not informed about the decision in advance, something the crew doesn’t seem very happy about. This is of course understandable, although this seems to be gradually becoming the new norm.

Other examples
Universal was also discredited earlier, when Trolls World Tour-stemactors Justin Timberlake on Anna Kendrick were not notified that the film would have a simultaneous theatrical and VOD release.

Both celebrities were anything but satisfied with this, mainly because the agreed box office bonuses went up in smoke. Together they demanded that the studio reimburse them.

Warner Bros.
The most famous example is, of course, Warner Bros. At the end of last year, the studio announced that all of its 2021 films will hit theaters and HBO Max simultaneously. Many filmmakers were not aware of this and had the necessary criticism.
