Johannesburg: Mark Boucher will step down as coach of the South African cricket team following the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia this year. This was announced on Monday by the South African Cricket Board itself. Boucher’s decision came shortly after South Africa were 1-2 trailing in the series of tests against England.

Boucher’s decision is reportedly about other opportunities that await him and his future career. Along with this, reports suggest the actor is in talks to take on the position of manager of an IPL franchise.

Boucher, who took over from Otis Gibson in 2019, remained in office until the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. South Africa has won 11 tests, 12 ODI and 23 Twenty20 under Boucher. After showing a disappointing performance in the last World Test Championship, South Africa is now in second place in the World Test Championship points standings.
