The National Members’ Meeting has appointed Marjolein Tasche as the new chairman of the LHV. From January 1, 2024, she will be the figurehead of our association. Marjolein Tasche is originally a general practitioner and has a strong bond with primary care, she combines this with years of experience as a director of hospitals and in associations such as the NVZ. The appointment committee is convinced that it can strengthen the position of general practitioners and unite general practitioners. The representative general practitioners in the membership meeting wholeheartedly agreed with this.
As of January 1, Marjolein Tasche will take over the chairmanship from Aard Verdaasdonk, who has assumed this role in the past period.
Strong and connecting chairman
“We believe that in Marjolein Tasche we have not only found a strong and unifying chairman, but also a very experienced director who knows both national and regional issues in healthcare,” says GP and LHV ambassador Maurits Westein, chairman of the appointment committee . ‘Marjolein was a general practitioner for 10 years, obtained her PhD on a general practice subject, worked for the NHG and, as a hospital director, has undertaken numerous initiatives to strengthen cooperation with general practitioners.’
Marjolein Tasche herself responds to her appointment: ‘I am very much looking forward to dedicating myself to general practitioner care, for and with general practitioners. There are many challenges in healthcare now and in the future, including for primary care. In addition to challenges, I also see opportunities in which general practitioners play an important role. Together with the LHV team and our partners, I would like to contribute to keeping healthcare good and accessible. Collaboration is a key word for me.’
Steps in the recruitment of a new chairman
In March, the permanent appointment committee started the first steps in the search for a new chairman. This committee consists of 3 delegated general practitioners from the National Members’ Meeting who are appointed by the members’ meeting and 2 members of the national LHV board. This committee has drawn up a proposal for a profile of the new chairman, which was adopted at the members’ meeting at the end of May. Candidates have been approached with this profile in recent months and candidates have come forward in response to the vacancy. The nomination committee made a selection, spoke to a number of candidates and then nominated a candidate. The members’ meeting has now appointed him.
