Marjan Rintel new KLM president

The Supervisory Board of KLM has nominated the current NS president Marjan Rintel as the new president of the airline. KLM has announced this.

Yesterday it already turned out that it would be either Rintel or Pieter Bootsma, who currently works at Air France-KLM. The preference would go out to Rintel. Now the company confirms that too.

The works council is against the appointment because they were not consulted in advance, it turned out yesterday. The Works Council has not yet responded to this official appointment. Later this morning they will come with a response.

July 1

Marjan Rintel has been working at the NS since 2014, and has been the highest boss there since October 2020. Before joining the Dutch Railways, she worked for 15 years at KLM and Air France-KLM, including in operations, sales and marketing.

The board of directors of Air France-KLM has now approved the nomination. Shareholders have the final say on the appointment. Rintel starts on July 1. She will then succeed Pieter Elbers. Elbers will resign from his duties by 1 July at the latest.

Elbers will therefore leave earlier than previously announced. His term actually expired in May 2023.
