Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted quickly to the announcement of the bombing of this hospital, writing on Twitter that “people, children are under the rubble”.

Changing tables, beds were thrown, everything was blown up. A pediatric hospital in Mariupol, a besieged port in southeastern Ukraine, was destroyed on Wednesday March 9 by Russian bombing, regional official Pavlo Kirilenko announced.

On the spot, the teams of France Télévisions filmed the chaos which ensued. According to a provisional report, at least 17 adults were injured, a regional official told Ukrainian television, adding that “‘there were no children’ among the wounded and “no deaths”.

The children’s hospital is far from the only one affected, many other buildings have been destroyed in Mariupol. Some 300,000 civilians have been pinned down for days by the fighting in the strategic port, located on the Sea of Azov, deprived of water, food and electricity and where humanitarian aid has not been able to arrive.
