A-List candidate throws major trump card
In a debate on RTP Madeira between candidates for the presidency of Marítimo, Carlos André Gomes (List A) and Carlos Batista (List B), the news came when the former announced that former footballer Danny will be the sports director, if his list win the elections next Friday. It was undoubtedly a very strong “card” launched just a few hours before maritime members went to vote to elect the future direction of the club. “I can announce that Danny will be our sporting director. It’s closed and we trust in his competence”, revealed the List A candidate. Carlos Batista was surprised by this announcement, but recognized the capabilities of the former red-green footballer: “It’s a football gentleman. He played for Marítimo, he has great competence in that, I have no doubt. But I can’t evaluate this information”. And he countered in relation to possible investors for red-green SAD: “We have contacts with Mexican investors”. Regarding the possibility of strengthening the squad, Carlos André Gomes said that after his election he will meet with Danny and Tulipa to understand the team’s needs so that the club returns to the 1st League. Carlos Batista smiled and replied: “Carlos André is out of everything. I’m going to continue the work I’m already doing with the technical team and the structure of professional football. We’re going to find a financial investor that will allow Marítimo to return to 1st Turns on”.
