Marit Bouwmeester and duo Bekkering/Duetz in full race for gold after a great day | Sport

sport">In the ninth race of the Olympic Games, everything went according to plan for Bouwmeester. For a long time she only had to tolerate the Israelite, but in the end she surpassed them. Meanwhile, almost all of its competitors went wrong. Of the top seven of the standings, only Italy’s Silvia Zennaro finished in the top ten with a ninth place. Leader Anne-Marie Rindom from Denmark finished 26th.

sport">That was still better for Rindom than what happened to her in race ten. She was disqualified before the start because she hindered Bouwmeester and saw her spacious starting position disappear like snow in the sun. Bouwmeester sailed a decent race and finished seventh, while many competitors sailed a lesser race.

sport">Bouwmeester is seven points behind Rindom with one race to go. Her lead over the rest is eight points or more. During the medal race, a gap of up to eighteen points can be made up. This race will be sailed on Sunday.

Bekkering/Duetz do golden business

sport">The sailing duo in the 49’er class FX Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz are also doing very good business. Due to a dramatic day for leader Great Britain, the Orange couple is currently at the top. The lead over Spain is one point. The British and Brazil are also still competing for the gold.

sport">There are three races in this class on Saturday. The medal race will follow on Monday.
