Laura Camila Quintero Sánchez, from San Sebastián de Mariquita, was chosen as the departmental queen of folklore on Sunday night.
In an event held in the Murillo Toro park in Ibagué, the qualifying jury chose the candidate who demonstrated the greatest skill and folkloric knowledge, charisma, beauty and popularity in the contest.
The new departmental queen is 24 years old and is a psychologist from the University of Ibagué.
This long-awaited contest was held on November 19, 20 and 21.
A wide contest
In total, 19 young people disputed the title of Miss Tolima. The participating municipalities were: Alvarado, Ambalema, Armero Guayabal, Carmen de Apicalá, Chaparral, Cunday, Colonia Tolimense, Coyaima, Espinal, Falan, Guamo, Ibagué, Melgar, Palocabildo, Purificación, Roncesvalles, Saldaña, San Sebastián de Mariquita, and Suárez .
The five finalists were Dayra Yineth Hernández, representative of Espinal, Elimey Natalia Lozano, from Guamo; Katherin Yahayra Ávila, from Palocabildo; Valery Zarith Martínez, from Ibagué; and Laura Camila Quintero Sánchez, from San Sebastián de Mariquita, who was finally chosen as the departmental queen of folklore.
