Famous French fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus and his husband Marco Maestri became parents for the first time when they welcomed Mia and Sun.

Although at first glance this is rather encouraging news and the couple has received many congratulatory messages, the enthusiasm is clearly not shared by everyone. Indeed, Marion Maréchal, head of the list of the Reconquête party (Eric Zemmour’s party, Editor’s note) in the European elections, spoke about this happy event in a post X (former Twitter). The latter writes: “Where is the mother?” A frontal attack for the homosexual couple, who see their parenthood called into question by the former member of the RN, while a French circular authorizes the parentage of children born from surrogacy abroad.

An intervention which sparked an outcry in the French political class. Certain political figures thus counterattacked the vice-president of Reconquest. “Where is your brain? A question that we have been asking for generations for the Le Pens,” writes Rima Hassan of France Insoumise.

Prisca Thevenot, government spokesperson, also stepped up to the plate, recalling that the law for marriage for all is celebrating its 11th anniversary. “This uninhibited homophobia is mind-blowing!”, she comments. “Two dads. Who love each other and who love children. It is good too. A family. This is the main thing,” also wrote former Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt.

Note that French regulations remain quite ambiguous on this practice. Indeed, if this circular on the automatic filiation of children born from surrogate mothers abroad is in force, surrogacy is still prohibited in France.
