“The Barber of Seville”, reinvented by Mario Martone for a theater empty of audiences, at the time of the pandemic, but in full activity, with maestro Daniele Gatti on the podium. An appointment that Rai Cultura is proposing again on Friday 12 January at 9.15pm on Rai 5. As part of the collaboration between Rai and Teatro Costanzi, Martone not only directed the theater, but also took care of the television direction of this production, which transformed the Theater in a real set. The new staging of the opera, with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini from the comedy of the same name by Beaumarchais, has costumes by Anna Biagiotti and lights by Pasquale Mari. The protagonists on stage are the baritone Andrzej Filonczyk in the title role, the tenor Ruzil Gatin as Count d’Almaviva, the mezzo-soprano Vasilisa Berzhanskaya as Rosina, the bass-baritone Alessandro Corbelli as Don Bartolo and the bass Alex Esposito in that of Don Basilio. The cast is completed by Patrizia Biccirè (Berta) and Roberto Lorenzi (Fiorello). The Rome Opera Chorus is directed by Roberto Gabbiani.
