Original Article [Thu 30th Mar, 2023 09:45 BST]:
Mario Kart Tour has revealed that Yoshi’s Island, a new course added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass, will be coming to the mobile game. But fans have also noticed something else that has caught their attention.
In the image of the new track, behind the pipe, a racer in a kart can be seen. After zooming in, fans might have identified the character as Poochy driving a kart. Players are getting excited as most of the additions in Tour are often alternative costumes for characters. But Poochy would be brand new and would also make his debut in Mario Kart. This makes sense from the perspective that Poochy made his first appearance in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, the same course being added to Tour.
However, there is another side to this news. If Poochy is playable, will he be coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? We already know that Nintendo is adding five more characters through the Booster Course Pass and that Birdo was introduced with Wave 4 alongside Yoshi’s Island. Fans would love to see Poochy become playable as well.
Although we know that empty roster spots in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be filled with “returning characters,” which means Nintendo will be searching through its archives for older characters, it is unclear if this applies to new characters added to Tour. We will have to wait and see.
Let us know what you think. Do you believe Poochy could make his racing debut in Mario Kart Tour? Would you like to see him in MK8D?
As we eagerly await the release of Poochy as a new racer in Mario Kart Tour, it’s clear that Nintendo continues to surprise and delight fans with their imaginative and creative additions to the Mario universe. With Poochy’s infectious enthusiasm and adorable charm, he’s sure to be a fan favorite in no time. So be sure to get ready to hit the tracks with Poochy and let the fun and excitement of Mario Kart Tour continue to bring joy to players everywhere for years to come.
