Mario Götze is currently lacing up his football boots for Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the former Borussia Dortmund player, now 32 years old, is slowly but surely heading towards the end of his career.
Marco Reus is a little further along. The 35-year-old played alongside Mario Götze in Dortmund for several years, where the two became good friends. After Reus’ departure from BVB, his path now seems to lead to the USA – together with Götze? The Frankfurt player is now speaking out!
Mario Götze confirms he will stay at Eintracht Frankfurt
The 2014 world champion told Bild newspaper clearly: “The moment counts. And at the moment I feel very comfortable here,” said Götze. The offensive player, who still has a contract in Frankfurt until 2026, wants to play the coming football year at Eintracht, where he will also play in the Europa League.

However, Götze left open what things will look like after that: “You know that long-term planning is important in football and that you can’t predict some things. Many factors play a role.” Regarding a possible move to the USA, which Götze has a preference for, the former Dortmund player only said: “I’m 32 now and there’s a chance that it will happen at some point.”
Joint US future with Reus remains open
So it sounds as if the 2014 World Cup finalist could move to the MLS at some point. When asked whether he would rather play with Marco Reus in Los Angeles or with Lionel Messi in Miami, Götze simply replied: “Both are good. We have been to America several times and the MLS has always been a future topic, even when I was younger.”
His friend Marco Reus is likely to sign with Los Angeles Galaxy soon (DERWESTEN reported). A move for Götze there is not yet an option this year – but perhaps in the future.
