Mario Gomez had his heyday at Bayern Munich, where he found his way to the goal no less than 75 times from 2009 to 2013. With Bayern he captured 2 German titles.
“Super Mario” also defended the colors of the German national team 78 times.
After his transfer to Bayern, Gomez still wore the shirt of Fiorentina, Besiktas, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart, the club where he started his professional career.
Club love was great with Gomez. He returned to Stuttgart in 2018 and yesterday forced the promotion to the Bundesliga. Stuttgart did not even have to win against Darmstadt (1-3) before that. Gomez made Stuttgart’s only goal. His farewell goal, it now appears.
“Helping to promote Stuttgart was my last mission,” said Gomez after the match.
