Mario Balotelli returned a call to Italy national team having last played for Gli Azzurri in 2018.
Balotelli is one of the names called by Roberto Mancini to undergo this week’s training camp at Coverciano this week.
Regarding the summons to the Italian national team, Balotelli did not want it to be exaggerated.
“I’m in good shape and feeling. At 31 years old, playing for the national team is normal. There are no abnormalities here.”
“I hope Italy can qualify for the World Cup, they deserve it. I don’t know why Italy had to struggle in the final play-off but something like this can happen,” Balotelli told Bresciaingol, quoted from Football Italia.
Balotelli relationship with Mancini is fairly close. Mancini is the one who handled Super Mario at Inter Milan and then joined him to bring him to Manchester City.
“We talked and everything is fine. He made my debut and I hope he is the one who saw me end my career,” said Balotelli.
Balotelli was once an important figure in the Italian national team. One of Balotelli’s best moments with the Italian national team was at Euro 2012. At that time, Balotelli, who was the spearhead on the front lines, was able to take Italy to the final round.
However, Italy’s journey at that time only led to the runner-up title because they lost to Spain in the top party.
In the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, Italy must go through the round play-off because they lost to Switzerland. Italy will face North Macedonia in the first round play-off.
