Marino died today in Trieste at the age of 70 Lombardo, former player of the grenade club who won the championship in 1976. In grenade he collected 92 appearances between 1967 and 1976. This is the condolences of president Cairo and all of Turin in memory of Lombardo:
“The President Urbano Cairo and the whole Torino Football Club – managers, employees, coaches, footballers, youth sector – share heartily in the pain of the Lombardo family for the death of Marino Lombardo, a much appreciated football player from 1969 until the unforgettable Scudetto season, in 1976.
Growing up in the youth sector of Toro, where he initially played as a right winger, thanks to the nose of an extraordinary football master like Oberdan Ussello Lombardo he reached Serie A as a right wing defender: a powerful and fast fluidifying agent, attentive in the defensive phase and always ready to support offensive action. In addition to the Scudetto, he also won the 1971 Italian Cup in his first team experience, after being champion of Italy with the Primavera team (together with, among others, Paolo Pulici and Serino Rampanti) in the 1967-68 season.
The whole Torino Football Club huddles around the Lombardo family in the memory of a great protagonist of the history of the grenade. Hi Marino, many will miss you ”.
