It is a birthday calendar, which shows a bare-chested Marine almost every month. The photos were taken with the theme ‘amphibious’. This refers to the “distinctive capacity of the corps to fight on the border of land and water,” reports the Ministry of Defense.
With the calendar, the force hopes to “repair a little bit” the contact with society, now that this is very limited due to the corona crisis. Many activities have been canceled. Just like last year, the proceeds will go to various charities.
The calendar created last year was a resounding success, the department says. The first 3,550 copies were sold out within 24 hours. 1665 calendars were printed, a number referring to the founding year of the Navy’s elite unit.
Charity
State Secretary Barbara Visser received the first copy on Friday. She called the calendar a collector’s item. “That means that the fans of the Marine Corps have to act quickly. In addition to the content of the calendar, it is of course extra nice that the proceeds go to charity. ”
