The meeting was attended by top officers of the Army, BSF, CRPF, NSG, and various intelligence agencies.
The security officials discussed coordinated efforts to ensure foolproof security for the G20 meeting. Marine Commandos will be deployed at Dal lake for the security of the event at the Shere-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC). They will also be responsible for countering any drone attacks.
The 3rd working group G20 meeting on tourism will be held in Srinagar later this month. China and Pakistan have expressed opposition to the location of the meeting due to security concerns. However, preemptive measures are being taken to thwart any untoward incident during the event.
Vijay Kumar, additional director general of J&K Police, chaired the security review meeting and was satisfied with the coordinated efforts from all the security forces to ensure foolproof security for the G20 meeting. The spokesman said that general officer commanding (GOC) Kilo Force of the Army assured the meeting that the army would dominate all the higher reaches, ensure corridor protection, and form additional Anti-Sabotage Teams.
Overall, the G20 meeting in Srinagar is expected to have the highest level of security measures in place to counter any potential terrorist threats, and the security review meeting discussed coordinated efforts to ensure the same.
