Marina Ripa di Meana, jewels up for auction. The anger of his son Andrea: «Absurd» – Corriere.it

They never got along, and that was known. Now, however, around the memory of the mother, a real battle is likely to break out between them. We are talking about Andrea Ripa di Meana Cardella, adopted son of Marina Ripa di Meana e Carlo and of the “sister” Lucrezia Lante della Rovere, daughter of Marina (and Alessandro Lante della Rovere). Reason for the dispute? Just the mother’s jewels, which will be beaten at auction by Pandolfini on June 23 in Florence.

Anger

«They are the jewels that Marina cared most of all – rises Andrea, who says he is” beside himself “-. He would never ever give them up for auction, they were family jewels, he wanted them to remain with the family. There is in particular one ring that would never have sold. Was she a woman over the top but very traditional in the family sphere and what does a daughter do? Are you auctioning jewels costing millions for a few hundred euros? ».

The ashes

The reference is precisely to Lucrezia Lante della Rovere. “She wants to get rid of the memory of her mother completely – she adds -, she still has the ashes in a corner of the kitchen, when Marina wanted them to be dispersed at sea. The last person Marina wanted next to her before she died was me, it wasn’t her daughter. I am sure that Marina would never have sold those jewels that were gifts from Carlo, mine and other people ».

The auction house

The auction, however, is confirmed for the moment. “There are 43 lots in all – says Pandolfini’s catalog – that belonged to one of the protagonists of social life, from the years of the Roman Dolce Vita to the social years of these 2000s TV personality, writer, transgressive and provocative, real name Maria Elide Punturieri , friend of Alberto Moravia and of the artists Mario Schifano and Tano Festa ».

The jewels

Among the jewels put up for auction, “extravagant and oversized” (as Pandolfini still writes), there is a large column brooch in gold, onyx and diamonds (lot 415, starting price 2.000-3.000 euros), a yellow gold bow-shaped bracelet with diamonds and a large aquamarine (lot 405, 4,000-6,000 euros). Yet another rigid geometric bracelet with diamonds signed by Schullin (lot 422, € 5,000-8,000), and, “to show how much he loved them”, the Momolite bracelets by J. Rivière (lot 435, € 1,000-1,500) and the bracelet in the shape of a large steel wire diamond (lot 425, 400-600 euros). All the lots in the catalog will be exhibited in Rome from 25 to 27 May and then in Milan from 10 to 12 June, in the Pandolfini offices in the capital and in the Lombard capital respectively. The usual pre-auction exhibition will be open from 18 to 22 June at Palazzo Ramirez-Montalvo in Florence.
