Details: According to the newspaper, the main favorite in the final was the Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas, who has consistently received gold in the previous three championships 2017-2022. Made it to the finals and the third number of the world ranking Shanica Ricketts from Jamaica and the leader of the current Diamond League from Cuba Leyanis Perez Hernandez. Reigning Bronze Breezer Tori Franklin withdrew from the tournament before it began.

Already on the first attempt, according to the publication, Bekh-Romanchuk jumped 15 meters, showing the second best result in her career and a personal record of the season. The starting jump brought the Ukrainian to an intermediate first place.

The athlete completed the second jump at 14.81 meters. In the standings, she remained the first, and Perez crept closest to her (14.96).

Having made a spade in the first attempt, the favorite Rojas jumped only 14.33 meters in the second attempt and came to the third round on the intermediate eighth line.

15 meters Bekh-Romanchuk remained out of competition even after five attempts. Only in the sixth jump, the Ukrainian was surpassed by Yulimar Rojas, jumping 15.08 meters.

In the last attempt, the Ukrainian made a spade, finishing the tournament with silver.

World Cup 2023. Triple jump (women) – final:

Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela) 15.08 meters
Maryna Beh-Romanchuk (Ukraine) 15.00
Leyanis Perez Hernandez (Cuba) 14.96

Beh-Romanchuk told “Social. Sports”that she was determined to win, and even after an outstanding last attempt, her opponent was ready to cling to her debut world champion title.

“Very nervous. It seems to me that today I left half of my life in the sector. Very tense. I tried to give out all the tension in jumps, and it was very difficult for me today. It is difficult in terms of how to properly set myself up, concentrate, translate what I can, in the result. And there were very tense competitions, very dense results – all the girls fought very hard for medals,” she shared her impressions of the final.

The athlete commented on the 15-meter jump on the first attempt.

“I could have done more. I could have done more, I was ready for more and I felt it. Somewhere, for some specific reason, it didn’t work out a little, I couldn’t realize this result in the fifth or sixth attempts.

But today it was possible to jump, it was possible to win. I was ready for it, I felt it, it just didn’t work out for a little bit. But thanks to God for what I have, for me this is a very precious medal, I have gone through a very, very difficult path to it.

I just want to thank all those people who worked with me, who believed, supported, and were by my side to the last. When it seemed to me that everything was just collapsing and there would be a complete tin, they believed in me to the last and were near me. Because I was touched by a very large team that treated me, put me on my feet. When all the legs were rewound, everything that was possible hurt, everyone was there and believed to the last that I could handle it,” she said.

Beh-Romanchuk also told what she thought after the victorious jump of Yulimar Rojas.

“I knew that she would jump. I don’t know, it would just have to pour a bucket of luck on me today, so that in the last attempt she would make a spade or something else. But, let’s say, it would be possible to fight. I could in the last attempt still improve my result, but I had so much desire that I just survived this attempt – and that’s it. Nothing, you have to work, “said the athlete.

Reference. At the 2023 World Cup, the Ukrainian started with a long jump tournament. With three spades, the vice-champion of 2019 sensationally did not reach the final and tuned in to her other tournament – in the triple jump.

Marina has been performing at the top level in the triple jump since 2022. Despite this, she has already managed to become the champion of Euro 2022 in this discipline, win the gold of the European Games 2023 and seven medals at the stages of the Diamond League.
