Our Ambassador to London Marin Raykov
–
“In connection with the unnecessary speculations and direct manipulations that the Embassy is trying to limit the number of sections that will be disclosed in the OK, we would like to emphasize that this is definitely not true.”
This is stated in the position of our ambassador in London Marin Raykov. The reason for it is the information that appeared that he sent a letter to the Central Election Commission with a request to significantly reduce the 86 sections that are expected to be opened in the United Kingdom.
Earlier, this information was refuted by our Foreign Ministry.
Here is the whole position:
Dear compatriots,
In connection with the unnecessary speculations and direct manipulations that the Embassy is trying to limit the number of sections that will be opened in the OK, we would like to emphasize that this is definitely not true. The embassy has proposed to start calculations with a working hypothesis for more than a threefold increase in the number of sections compared to the previous elections. Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs we have proposed to work with anticipation of even 120 sections, and not 84. This is our wish, but it is clear that the decision will be only the CEC. This decision of the CEC will reflect the number of applications on the ground, but also the availability of suitable premises and last but not least – the successful or unsuccessful recruitment of appropriate staff for each section. No one can break the law. At least not the Embassy.
At the same time, our position is that there is no need for triple and quadruple sections, as we had insisted on in the previous elections, in order to compensate for the then limited number of PECs on the ground. Now there are no restrictions and after the changes in the IC many sections will be opened in different places near the previous sections. This will significantly reduce the number of voters in the previous 35 sections.
At the same time, we reiterate that wherever the legal requirements are met, sections will be opened and the Embassy will fully co-operate in this, as it has always done. We call on all citizens not to be misled by speculation, but to be informed about our actions only from the Embassy’s website or from the official Facebook page. We have proven that we are committed to full transparency and we assure you that we will continue to do so.
