It was a very conscious choice of Marijke and her husband Harry not to have children. “I can’t say that Harry and I were not allowed to have a family with children. It was a conscious decision not to have children. When we got married I always said I never wanted to be a mother,” explains the diva.
The couple was completely on the same page when it came to children: “I thought it was irresponsible to bring children into this world even then and I have only been confirmed in that opinion in the later years. Harry agreed with me.”

The loving couple does not regret their decision not to have children. “We have never regretted not having children. Because I didn’t have to take care of and raise children, I was able to do a lot for society.”
Marijke and Harry have been happily together for a long time. Next year, the couple will mark their 50th anniversary. “Our years together have flown by.”
