Mariella Ahrens started her career at GZSZ. Almost thirty years later, she is now returning to the soap.
Berlin – Mariella Ahrens (55) appeared in front of the camera for 41 episodes of “Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten” in 1995. The legendary RTL soap was to be the actress’ breakthrough and pave the way for a successful career in film and television. Almost thirty years after her appearance on GZSZ, Mariella Ahrens will be seen again in her old role.
As Elinor, Mariella Ahrens has to deal primarily with GZSZ icon Jo Gerner
In her role as Elinor, Mariella Ahrens appears ice cold – a perfect opponent for GZSZ villain Jo Gerner, played by Wolfgang Bahro (63). The two had already grown closer three decades ago, although Elinor really did not want to go to bed with the lawyer without a marriage certificate. Gerner was ready to get married, but his fiancée left him standing at the altar.

Since then, nothing has been heard from Elinor on GZSZ – until now. Because Jo Gerner wants to find out whether he has illegitimate children that he doesn’t know about. After he frantically calls all of his ex-lovers, his wife Yvonne, played by Gisa Zach (50), advises him to send his DNA to a genealogy company. And lo and behold, there are actually some surprising matches.

GZSZ comeback of Mariella Ahrens: New drama for the Schillerkiez
The search for possible Gerner children brings Elinor back to the fictional Berlin Schillerkiez. “This time she has an incredible surprise in store: in the meantime she has given birth to twins, which Jo had no idea about until now,” says Mariella Ahrens about her role’s storyline. In an interview with “Bild” she reveals Gerner’s possible reaction: “I think he will be shocked, because we didn’t part on good terms back then. But it won’t be easy for Elinor to meet him again either.”

Her return to the GZSZ set, however, was quite harmonious, as Ahrens says with a laugh: “Fortunately, Wolfgang didn’t react to me the way his character Jo did. On the contrary, we greeted each other happily, hugged each other and were happy to be in front of the camera together again.”
