The Joker is one of the seven contestants who do their best to come across as a full-fledged artist. Not only his appearance makes an impression, when he starts miming the song ‘Jij Bent Zo’ by Jeroen van der Boom, Marieke thinks she recognizes someone. “I was distracted for a moment, because he looks a bit like an ex-boyfriend of mine from years ago (…) We fluttered and dated for a while, but it was not the love I experience him now.” When Carlo then asks her if he could sing, she is very adamant: “No, so I’m going with that. So he can’t either.”

Despite the fact that Marieke is initially convinced that the Joker cannot sing, he still ends up in the final and is allowed to sing a duet with Glennis Grace. The singer starts off strong, but then it turns out that the Joker has been fooling everyone all this time and is totally unable to keep a tone. That does mean that Maurits, the real name of the Joker, is 5,000 euros richer.
