Marie-Camille Théorêt will represent Canada in Lake Placid

COLLEGE HOCKEY. Magogoise Marie-Camille Théorêt will wear the colors of Team Canada during the World University Hockey Games which will take place January 11-21, 2023 in Lake Placid, New York.

The Bishop’s Gaiters women’s team captain is the only player on her team – and the first in history – to be selected for this international competition.

A total of seven Quebecers are on Team Canada.

He will play five preliminary round matches between 11 and 18 January, against Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Japan, Great Britain and the United States respectively. The semi-finals and final will take place on 20 and 21 January respectively.

The tournament will take place in Potsdam for the preliminary round and at the Lake Placid Olympic Center for the elimination round.

Canada won three gold medals at the World University Games (2009, 2011 and 2013), followed by three silver medals at the following editions (2015, 2017 and 2019). The event was not held in 2021 due to the pandemic.

23-year-old Marie-Camille Théorêt plays defensive back and is a product of Magog minor hockey. She is in her second and final season with the Bishop’s University Gaiters.
