Marie and Charlotte at your service

Marie Bieder and her daughter Charlotte Daize are not doing things by half measures. Or rather if. After a 30-year career in telephony for mothers and a first professional experience in marketing in Luxembourg for the daughter, they joined forces to create Scatola, a boutique for men in semi-custom clothing. “Fashion brought us together,” says Marie.

It is towards the man that they are heading, strong in the realization that there was a lack of a boutique, a concept, “something refined” in Thionville. Italian by birth, Marie then contacted clothiers in Italy. And there, it is the click. “They explained to me that tailor-made is back in fashion.” Thanks to the health crisis too. Successive confinements have worked in favor of the return of tailors to their homes or offices.

One thing led to another, she made contact with leading European half-measure workshops. The principle is simple: offer the customer a template for a suit, shirt, jeans or chinos and then adjust it taking into account the options selected. “We operate on the principle of the meeting”, specifies Charlotte. A first discovery meeting followed by a second for fitting and taking measurements.

“Accessible tailor-made”

Each piece can be personalized according to the choice of fabric and embellished with accessories fashioned by an Italian craftsman: belts, cufflinks, socks, “hand-rolled” silk ties.

The mother-daughter pair has therefore settled in the heart of the pedestrian plateau of Thionville, at the corner of Place Claude-Arnoult and Rue de l’Ancien-Hôpital. “We wanted to set up the store as a warm place that does not make a store, a little home,” says Charlotte. And receives on site. “We also offer these gentlemen who have little time to go directly to the company,” continues Marie, who hopes to be able to attract a clientele of business leaders and cross-border workers.

However, the ready-to-wear in half-measure is not reserved for an elite. “We are on accessible tailor-made”, insists Marie. For a two-piece suit, count € 471, a three-piece from € 571, a shirt € 96, jeans € 168 and chinos € 134.

Likewise, it is not reserved for people of atypical morphology either. A well-tailored suit, well-fitting jeans or a shirt that fits perfectly, this is what La Scatola mother and daughter offers.
