Marianna Gierszewska is a famous actress who comes from an artistic family. Her father Maciej Kowalewski is a director, screenwriter, playwright and actor, and her mother Edyta Torhan is an actress. In the Dzień Dobry TVN studio, father and daughter talked about how they managed to build a strong relationship in their adult lives.
As a child, Marianna couldn’t spend as much time with her dad as she needed. Maciej Kowalewski had many professional obligations. In addition, the actress’s parents decided to get a divorce. – First, I was present until Marianna was 7 years old. Later we broke up and of course we met only less often, more on weekends. That’s how life determined it, the director explained.
As the daughter grew up, relationships were no longer “naturally difficult.” – We met as adults and then these relationships have reached a higher level, especially when Marianna and Zosia (editor’s note – Marianna’s sister, Maciej Kowalewski’s daughter, director) have simply exceeded a certain age and certain life experiences – added the guest on Dzień Dobry TVN.

What does this relationship look like today from Marianna’s perspective? – Today, my father is a director, an actor, he writes scripts, and apart from acting, I do a lot of other things. I feel a lot of support from my dad, he is there and whatever I decide, he is the one who follows it in keeping his fingers crossed – emphasized the actress on Dzień Dobry TVN.
Despite everything, Maciej Kowalewski was not delighted when Marianna wanted to follow in his footsteps and pursue acting in the future. – Every parent wants the best for their child. Our experiences, especially from the first professional period, were quite difficult, so I don’t want to send my beloved children to this difficult industry. When one daughter announced that she wanted to be an actress and the other a director, I said: “think deeply and don’t do it,” the director recalled.
– Later they started to be successful and I said “never listen to me again” – added our guest.
