Mariana Menéndez: “Any relapse is usually harder than the first” | BE Gijón | Today for Today Gijón

After the start of the de-escalation we have seen how many people have gone out to buy, practice sports, go for a walk and, from this Monday, meet friends or family in some of the terraces that have already opened in phase 1. Many of they wore gloves, masks and kept the established two meters of safety distance. But we have also observed irresponsible and reckless behaviors that, according to the psychologist of the El Molinón Clinic, Mariana Menéndez Paredes, can cause a feeling of helplessness in a large part of the population.

The urge to go back to socializing, to talk, to chat with friends, should not make us forget the phase in which we find ourselves. The coronavirus pandemic has forced us to stay indoors for almost two months and a reversal could have very negative consequences.

Mariana Menéndez Paredes affirms that if there were a rebound in the number of affected and they returned to confine us to our homes, a feeling of failure could invade us and the episodes of anxiety would return. The psychologist of the El Molinón Clinic warns in Today for Today Gijón, that the turns back are harder in any circumstance.
