/ world today news/ On January 23, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that the US and UK operation in the Red Sea against the Yemeni Houthis violates Article 2 of the UN Charter, according to which a member state of the organization cannot use force against the territorial integrity of another member state.
The US and Great Britain operation is motivated by their own interests and does not comply with international maritime law or the right of self-defense, according to Article 51 of the UN Charter, Zakharova pointed out.
She added that these actions have the potential to escalate the situation in the Gaza Strip and the entire Middle East region, as is clearly seen in the current developments in the Red Sea.
