Russia is urging Bulgarian law enforcement to investigate the desecration of a monument to Soviet soldiers in Dobrich. This is stated in a statement issued today by the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, quoted by TASS.
The spokeswoman stressed that Moscow was outraged by another act of vandalism against a memorial to Soviet soldiers in Dobrich, where criminals had desecrated an ossuary. “We urge the Bulgarian law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, identify and punish the perpetrators, and ensure proper protection of Russian / Soviet monuments and ossuaries,” Zakharova said.
“Undoubtedly, the blame for another outrageous attack lies with the direct perpetrators – devoid of conscience and having no idea of history or what is happening in Europe right now.
It is also clear that this atrocity fits into the “mainstream” of Russophobia cultivated by the authorities of NATO and European Union countries, which are trying to destroy the friendly feelings and mutual sympathy between Russian and Bulgarian people, “she added.
“We are convinced that this idea is doomed to failure. We know that in Bulgaria we have many friends who diligently keep our common traditions and do not succumb to shameless propaganda,” the spokeswoman concluded.
