Maria Ward School in Würzburg between Bulle and Bär

Return to school normality? At least as far as school trips are concerned, the corona pandemic once again thwarted the plan. Excursions lasting several days were not permitted until the Easter holidays. Due to the forthcoming final exams, class 10b at the Maria Ward School in Würzburg decided to take a short trip to Frankfurt am Main after the exams, instead of the obligatory final trip at the beginning of the school year.

The Hessian metropolis, known for the skyscrapers in the financial and service sector, was the ideal destination for the students in the business administration training course. So it was a perfect fit that the new Deutsche Börse Visitor Center was opened on July 1, 2022. There, the girls were able to deepen their knowledge of investing in shares and look over the shoulders of the stock brokers and the numerous camera teams of the various television stations live on site.

Practical references could also be gained in the Money Museum of the Deutsche Bundesbank. Among other things, it was made clear here that the current inflationary development is historically no exception. By comparing different shopping baskets at different times, the problem of excessive inflation was explained to the young people. The focus is most clearly on the loss of purchasing power when it comes to everyday purchases.

In addition to purely economic topics, the class got a geographical overview of the city from the Main Tower. In addition to the Römer, the Eiserner Steg and the Paulskirche, the Zeil in Frankfurt also formed important landmarks on the two-day trip.

Overall, the Frankfurt trip was very entertaining and varied. True to the MWS motto “Looking for ways together”, the girls were able to spend a wonderful “last” time at school together.
