“Western”, Maria Pouchet’s 7th novel won over the jury for the Gold Leaf Media Prize. She will receive her award on Sunday September 9 at 12 p.m. under the Marquee du Livre on the Place.
The jury for the Golden Leaf media prize, made up of journalists from France 3 Lorraine, Est Républician, France Bleu and partners of Le Livre sur la Place, chose to single out Maria Pourchet’s novel, ” Western” published by Stock.
The writer, born in Epinal, leads the reader into a story of love, of passion in the midst of the post #MeToo period.
Alexis, a very famous comedian, “the face of the century”, is to play Dom Juan at the theatre. But he chooses to disappear while the press and social networks are unleashed against him. A young actress is suing him for sexual assault, the actor seduced her the better to abandon her and destroy her by his silences and his influence.
Alexis decides to escape to the heart of the Lot department. He will meet another woman, Aurore, who no longer thought she could fall in love, especially with a “bastard”.
The fiery, twirling style of Maria Pourchet does not let the reader breathe. Out of breath, we wonder how can we still love in the heart of this post #Metoo period? How can men (re)find a place?
The writer does not give lessons, she immerses the reader in the whirlwinds of love that is always possible with subtlety, without falling into clichés.
