María Perroni is not afraid of theater

Part of the stage design for the play El cuerpo en que nací is made up of hundreds of shoes scattered haphazardly on the ground, as a metaphor for a woman’s search for something that will make her step firmly and safely on this world; and among them walks one of the main actresses, María Perroni Garza, wearing rabbit slippers.

At 14 years old, María has been in productions such as Anita la huerfanita, Les Miserables, The Pillowman, among others, a gift that comes in her blood, since she is the daughter of actors Mariana Garza and Pablo Perroni.

“From a very young age I have known that this (acting and theater) is what I like to do the most and it has always saved me, that is why I am sure that in the future I will continue in the same direction, in addition to managing the Teatro Milán and the Forum Lucerna (belonging to his family)”.

That is why she is happy with her decision to be in this play alongside Paulina Treviño and Tamara Vallarta, under the direction of Benjamín Cann and which, starting this weekend, will be presented at the Shakespeare Forum.

“I am convinced that the universe sent me this text to question many things and to open myself up to more possibilities, such as not judging myself and embracing what I have, what I deserve.”

The body I was born in tells the story of Guadalupe, who lives in the late 70s, facing the challenge of growing up and finding her identity among the liberal follies of the time and her strange family.

“I really like Guadalupe’s way of seeing the world, she knows that it can become a prison but she knows how to get away and see everything from the outside with a clearer, realistic vision; also that she is very dreamy and is maturing ”.

Perroni explained that he has always liked characters who, despite being small in age, are very strong: “I like to put myself in those shoes because they challenge me; that is to say that there are children of my age who can make that type of characters, that not only the older ones can; I’m not scared.”
