María Luisa Doig: “He who fights achieves it”

The Peruvian fencer María Luisa Doig won the silver medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, in the epee specialty.

The Peruvian’s participation started around 9 in the morning and as she progressed she surprised by beating the Canadian Xiao Ruien 15-10 and moving on to the final to face the Argentine Clara Isabel Di Tella. It was a close fight because at some point they were 9 – 9 but in the end the score was 15 – 9.

In statements to the press he was very excited, pointing out that “he who fights achieves it.” He thanked his family for the “great support because without them I would not be standing here.” He also assured that “these emotions are great.”

A few weeks ago, CARETAS portrayed her for the printed edition and a few days later she won a bronze medal in the Satellite Cup, an important competition that took place in Lima that added points for her classification to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

With this medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, María Luisa Doig already has 53 international medals to her credit. Before the Satellite Cup, the Peruvian fencer managed to retain her title as South American Senior Champion.
