For the first time, and immediately with her large exhibition of paintings “A View from the Inside,” the daughter of Yegor Konchalovsky and Lyubov Tolkalina, Maria, came to Blagoveshchensk as part of the “Amur Autumn”. As is known, her family included famous artists Vasily Surikov and Pyotr Konchalovsky. Therefore, it is not surprising that genes made themselves felt.
Now Masha is not only actively painting, but also studying at the Institute of Design, acting in films, and has released her own brand of silk scarves with angels.
The current exhibition of the 22-year-old artist presents about 30 works – on one wall are her paintings on a religious theme: Konchalovskaya is trying to paint icons, and, according to her, this is a fusion of both Orthodoxy and Catholicism. For example, one of the works is a stylization of the famous icon of the Mother of God, where she is depicted on the moon, but instead of her hands folded on her chest, Mary added a dove of peace to the Madonna.
– I studied in Sunday school, and my teacher in high school was a nun in the world. She could tell more. But I can’t say exactly why I’m interested in this. Rather, it is an Orthodox theme: iconography and its traditions are used, but there is also a combination with Catholic traditions,” explained Masha.
