María Dolores de Cospedal and her husband, the Sevillian businessman Ignacio López del Hierro, have separated after 15 years together. The former Secretary General of the Popular Party and former Minister of Defense confirmed the news in conversation with Vanitatis, assuring that it is simply due to differences in daily coexistence and not to other reasons.
The couple are going their separate ways after more than a decade together, with the former politician ensuring that she remains fully dedicated to her professional role as a State lawyer, which keeps her very busy.

After a long friendship, Cospedal and López del Hierro married in a civil ceremony in September 2009 at Cigarral de las Mercedes, a spectacular 5-hectare estate, located in one of the best areas of Toledo.
At that time, María Dolores de Cospedal was 43 years old and president of the Popular Party in Castilla La Mancha, while her new husband, at that time 62, was administrator of several companies, being recognized for his role as civil governor of the city of Toledo in 1979 after being named by Adolfo Suárez.
