Five years ago, the Oviedo Maria Barcia he found himself, face down, in front of a closed door: a disease, the fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, forced her to quit her job. That diagnosis was a hard blow, but far from bending her, it prompted her to desperately search for a way forward. At first she was lost, but one day, by chance or because fate wanted it, Instagram crossed her life and she knew that there was her future. «Instagram it made me reinvent myself, ”he confesses.
María started out like anyone else on social networks, with sporadic publications that received a few interactions, but her tenacity led her to grow unstoppable and stop being a small account to be an ‘influencer’. “I did it by being very constant and working practically every day of the year,” he says. For this reason, he did not settle for only Instagram, but also made use of Facebook and 21 Buttons, among other applications, until he managed to add some 300,000 followers between the different platforms. «I began to open social networks to cover all possible audiences. In addition, I attended events, I was making myself known and thus I was introduced to the sector, “he explains.
With this strategy, more and more people were leaning out of that fashionable window that she opened, with enthusiasm, from Oviedo. And with the followers, numerous projects arrived. “I collaborate with important clothing brands, I have done work as a stylist and I also work as a ‘personal shopper'”, he explains.
Among her beauty and fashion tips, her networks also end up discovering little pills from her day to day, which are not always joys as happened when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. “I had to tell my followers because they were going to notice a change in me. I realized that verbalizing it helped many people, “he says. Now she knows that looking healthy “is more than enough.” And with health, everything else is coming.
At this time, with Christmas just around the corner, María, as a good ‘influencer’, is already thinking about the gifts that never fail for each member of the family. And it is clear to him. For them, she keeps a leather jacket “so that they are up to date” and for them, she chooses a perfume that recalls the personality of the gifted woman.
Although she bets, rather, on making common gifts such as an Alexa Echo Show smart screen and also opts for non-technology activities for children such as a classic Monopoly that “likes all ages.”
With all these tips to give and show off this Christmas and with warm clothes already on, María Barcia will continue to follow this path, which Instagram opened five years ago, for which she knows well how to tread.
