“It really breaks my heart when I see an announcement about a project, casting for a role that requires Slavic features and an accent, and British actors are cast for it instead of real Slavs,” said a tearful Maria. The reason for the refusal was that her face was “modern and did not enter into the content of the role”.
This is the first time she has been rejected at a casting. It is not clear which movie it is.
She rose to fame after her role in the film Borat 2, and recently it was revealed that she was liked by Marvel for a role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The filming of the production ended a month ago, and the premiere of the third part is expected next year.
“What I can say is that I am busy for the next five years. My career has taken off like lightning and I am very happy that people are supporting me. In the coming years you will see me in comedy, drama and complex roles with important directors and interesting scenarios”, says Bakalova.
“Everyone here is good and proves themselves. That’s why I don’t stop looking, working, wanting,” adds Maria.
