On Saturday evening at the Stade de France, Olympic vice-champion Maria Andrejczyk will have a chance to win Poland’s second medal in track and field. In the javelin throw qualifiers, she scored 65.52, which is 95 cm more than her best rival, Croatian Sara Kolak. It was also the best throw by a Polish woman this season.

Andrejczyk is the Olympic vice-champion from Tokyo. In 2021, she was in the form of her life and set the Polish record with a result of 71.40.

In Paris, in Wednesday’s qualifications, she easily qualified for today’s javelin throw final. The Polish athlete threw 65.52 in the first series and met the minimum, which was 62 m.

I’m glad I managed to cope with it all psychologically, mentally, but I only qualified – the Pole said on Wednesday.

She admitted that she is happy to be less emotional than before.

I am prepared quite optimally. The result came from calm, but in the last steps I thought to myself: I will pull harder with my paw, to be sure of promotion. I trust my body, I trust my coach. Everything is coming together nicely. The most important fight is ahead of me on Saturday. I am running away, isolating myself, and in three days we will continue – Andrejczyk said a few days ago.

And she added: It’s great that I felt the power today, I felt the body. I also felt the ease that I didn’t have all season. It all starts to come together technically in the last training sessions before coming here. It’s good – assessed the Pole.

The women’s javelin throw final is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

The only medal in track and field at the Olympic Games in Paris was won on Friday by Natalia Kaczmarek. The Polish athlete took 3rd place in the 400 m race.
