Maria Andrejczyk eighth in the javelin throw final

After winning the Olympic qualifiers for the third time in a row, Maria Andrejczyk was considered one of the favourites for the final javelin throw. The Polish athlete, who has regularly thrown over 60 metres this season, scored 65.52 last Wednesday at the Stade de France. This was the fifth result in this year’s rankings. In the Olympic final, the Hańcza Suwałki athlete showed with her first attempt at 62.44 that she is ready for long throws on Saturday evening as well. Unfortunately, the Polish representative did not improve her distance, and her rivals scattered. The Olympic champion was the Japanese Haruka Kitaguchi, who scored 65.80 and moved ahead of our athlete in the world rankings as well. The athlete trained by Cezary Wojna finished her third Olympic final in her career in eighth place.

Klaudia Kazimierska started off strongly in the 1500-meter race. The Włocławek native fought bravely in the Olympic final, but had to admit the superiority of her rivals. In a very fast race, she finished tenth with a personal best of 4:00.12.

Before the last day of athletics competitions at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad – tomorrow in Paris there will be a women’s marathon – the Polish team has one bronze medal. It was won on Friday evening by Natalia Kaczmarek.
