Around 1.9 million travelers and 447,000 cars passed through Moroccan ports from June 5 to August 15 as part of the “Marhaba 2024” operation, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics said on Friday.
In a statement, the ministry stressed that the transit operation is taking place “in good conditions”, specifying that for the incoming flows to the Kingdom, Moroccan ports received around 1.33 million passengers and 317,000 cars, while around 570,000 passengers and 130,000 cars transited to Europe from Moroccan ports.
The peaks of the flow entering the Kingdom were recorded on August 3 and 4 with more than 80,000 passengers and 20,000 cars, thus marking a “great influx” during these two days, added the same source.
“The services of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics are mobilized to put in place all the technical and logistical conditions necessary for the success of this operation, through the mobilization of sufficient transport capacity to meet the needs of Moroccans residing abroad, as well as the diversification of maritime lines, while ensuring the quality of the services offered on board the ships and monitoring the prices of the crossings,” notes the press release.
“In case of need to modify the date or time of travel indicated on the ticket, the persons concerned must contact the shipping company concerned remotely before arriving at the port, in order to avoid any possible congestion at the ports,” the ministry recommends.
