The act took place after the member of the association of criminals, who was in possession of the firearm, was forced to fight against the target of the attempted robbery, who decided to react to the armed robbery, according to the Criminal Investigation Service in Bié.
The head of the Institutional Communication and Press Office of SIC-Bié, Simão Londaca, explained that the criminals were trying to rob a citizen of Lebanese nationality who, in reaction, after being pointed out in the middle, held the weapon and fought against the criminal.
Simão Londaca added that, at that moment, the Lebanese misdirected the direction of the gun barrel in another place, where one of his accomplices was.
However, in an attempt to force the victim to give up the fight, he fired three shots, one of which hit his companion in the assault.
The member of the group was taken to Dr. Walter Strangway Hospital, but he could not survive the severity of the injury caused by the shot and died on the way to the health unit.
“The Lebanese citizen, upon realizing that he was placed with a firearm from behind, when opening the door of his vehicle, turned around and held the gun, pointing it to the side.
He wanted to disarm the criminal. During the fight, because the criminal’s finger was on the trigger, he pressed and fired three shots, one of which hit his partner,” he explained.
The person responsible for the SIC-Bié Communication Office said that, at the time of the events, the injured party was approached as he was leaving his commercial establishment towards his vehicle, where one of the three members of the association of criminals tried to stop the Lebanese with a gun. However, he detailed that the action, which was frustrated by resistance from the injured party, led to the death of the member of the group, who in life was called Guilherme Mozotok, aged 26.
The shooter and the other element, both still unidentified, are at large, but Simão Londaca said that efforts are continuing to arrest the refugees and recover the aforementioned firearm.
The head of the SIC-Bié Communications Office explained that, in addition to being held criminally responsible for attempted robbery, he raised the possibility that the person responsible for the shooting would also be held responsible for the crime of homicide.
The SIC learned that the crime occurred last Friday night, October 27th, in the Câmara neighborhood, municipality of Cuito.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to identify and arrest the two fugitives.
