When she enrolled her thirty second students in the national project La Belle Harangue, Stéphanie Spada, French teacher at the Saint Joseph high school of the Sainte-Louise-de-Marillac Institution, in Montluçon (Allier), did not expect such an adventure.
The first edition of this project carried by the Foundation for writing, and supported by France Television, began on September 22 and will end on October 6. Its theme is “What if …”
Twenty-five schools selected
Despite the short time teachers had at the start of the school year to launch their project, twenty-five schools were selected for the call for projects, including the Montluçonnais high school.
“I was seduced by the La Belle Harangue project, because it allowed students to work differently orally. Having them write a speech is as different as having them write a essay. “

The French teacher also appreciated that it was not a competition. “It puts students on a spiral of success. In the end they all return a copy that they wrote from A to Z. ”
The contribution of an actor Arnaud Redon
Thanks to an endowment of 2,000 euros from the Writing Foundation, she was able to integrate the actor Arnaud Redon into the project, which was able to advise and supervise the high school students in the oral restitution of their speech.

A day in Paris and a visit to the Culture Box set
Due to the number of applicants, France Television has changed its focus on the project. Initially, ten students chosen by their classes had to go to Paris to visit the Comédie Française, the National Assembly and the Institut de France, before explaining to Culture Box how the project had gone in their class.
Finally, they declaimed their harangue in one of these three prestigious places then on the set of the show of Daphné Bürki and Raphaël Yem.

Margaux declaimed at the Comédie Française
Margaux Durot, who represented the Lycée Saint Joseph, keeps a very strong memory of these two days in Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday. She made her speech at the Comédie Française before repeating it in the evening at Culture Box.
The student in the Tremplin Jeunes dancers course at the Isadora school, also in Montluçon, considers that his experience in competitions and dance shows has been very useful to him.
“It was super interesting. The atmosphere on the set was nice, because the technicians wanted us to be comfortable in front of the camera. Dancing has helped me with posture and because I know what it’s like to be watched. What really made me weird are the cameras ”

For Stéphanie Spada, the choice of Margaux to represent her class was quickly imposed. By the quality of its harangue on women’s rights, its seriousness and its autonomy.
The show in which Margaux participated will be broadcast at the end of October on TNT channel 14.
Stéphanie Spada also worked with Aurélie Coille, school teacher at Notre-Dame school, and her CE1 students. ” I know her well. We needed a place to reproduce the harangues of the seconds. I suggested that we do it in the schoolyard in front of his students. “
The exchange between high school students and schoolchildren did not stop there. The older ones supervised the CE1 students in writing their own harangues which they will then declaim in front of the kindergartens of their school.
