Margaret De Micheli, 72, thought her lucky day had arrived and she would finally be able to enjoy a restful retirement alongside her husband. Unfortunately, an error on the part of the employee at the bookstore turned this dream day into a disappointment.

A 72-year-old grandmother says she thought she had won EuroMillions for ten minutes before it all fell apart. Indeed, Margaret De Micheli was checking her ticket at her usual bookstore last week, when the merchant told her that she had won.
In the United Kingdom, when this is the case, you receive a “claiming ticket”, a voucher, with which you can then contact the National Lottery. Margaret was then asked to check her numbers with a store, and that’s when she became disillusioned.
A great disappointment
Quite quickly, the employee explains to her that she does not have the right numbers. After checking with the National Lottery, the news is confirmed: Margaret did not win…
But then, what happened? According to the grandmother, the person in front of her won the prize, and the “claiming ticket” was therefore intended for her. “I’m stunned, I had never received a ‘claiming ticket’ in the past,” she explains.
Because if Margaret wanted to win, it was above all for her 78-year-old husband who is still working: “I wasn’t thinking of millions, but maybe €25,000. I wanted to earn enough to call my husband and tell him he could stop working. He is a traffic officer and works from 5:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. every day. His body is tired. Let’s hope that luck smiles on Margaret and her husband… In the meantime, she urges everyone in her neighborhood to check their numbers since a winner is among them!
