After five seasons at FC Porto, Moussa Marega left Estádio do Dragão and signed for Al Hilal, from Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with the new club’s media, the Malian striker explained the option for change and praised Sérgio Conceição, “the best coach” he’s ever had.
«My story in Portugal started at Marítimo, where I spent a fantastic year. Then I went to FC Porto, and that was the key to the happy days I lived after signing for this great club. I met Sérgio Conceição, with whom I learned a lot and to whom I owe a lot. He’s the best coach I’ve had so far and one of the best in Europe,” he said.
«I spent five spectacular years at FC Porto, but in the end I opted for another experience. I wanted a change in my life, a change of continent. My family and I wanted to live in an Islamic country, so when I got Al Hilal’s offer I didn’t hesitate,” he continued.
Marega then recalled the experience of playing for the dragons in the Champions League, especially the 2018/19 season, the second in the blues and whites.
«The second year was much better, I beat the record for consecutive games to score for FC Porto (six consecutive matches), and I wrote my name in the club’s history. It was important, of course. I will be remembered in a big club like FC Porto. It’s spectacular. It was a pride for me», he shot.
