Marechaussee arrests two men for involvement in human smuggling | Inland

The duo, a 33-year-old man from London and a 28-year-old man with no permanent residence, are suspected of supplying the vessels to people smugglers. A 33-year-old woman was handcuffed by British police after she came forward in the same investigation.

The UK National Crime Agency (NCA) reports that several boats have been found in the Netherlands: “The arrests are all related to an NCA investigation into the procurement of rigid-hulled inflatable boats (RHIBs) in the UK and Europe, which was subsequently are transported to the Netherlands in storage. “

Not the first time boats are encountered

Spokesman Robert van Kapel of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee confirms the arrests after reporting from the NCA. “We cannot go into the details yet, because the investigation is in full swing.”

“Smuggling people across the Channel in small boats is extremely dangerous and can have tragic consequences,” said Jacque Beer of the NCA in response to the arrests. “The organized crime groups behind these efforts don’t care about safety or preservation of lives, they just see migrants as a commodity to take advantage of and exploit.

Incidentally, it is not the first time that boats have been found in the Netherlands. In September, the Marechaussee arrested two Dutchmen. During the search, seven boats, five motorcycles and 100 life jackets were found. The funds were intended to facilitate human trafficking to England.
